How to dry the diesel generator set after it gets wet

During operation, the diesel generator set may be damp due to excessive humidity, rainwater intrusion, etc. A damp diesel generator set will not only affect its normal operation, but may also cause damage to the equipment. (1) Check the equipment condition
Before drying, first conduct a comprehensive inspection of the diesel generator set to understand the degree and scope of moisture. The inspection content includes: whether there are water droplets on the surface of the equipment, whether the line is damp, whether the insulation resistance is reduced, etc. Through inspection, the difficulty and time required for drying can be determined.
(2) Power off
Before drying, be sure to cut off the power supply of the diesel generator set to ensure operation. At the same time, remove the battery inside the equipment to avoid short circuit during the drying process.
(3) Ventilation and drying
For diesel generator sets that are slightly damp, natural ventilation can be used for drying. Place the equipment in a well-ventilated place, open the equipment casing, and let the moisture dissipate naturally. This method is suitable for situations with a light degree of moisture, and the drying time may be longer.

For diesel generator sets that are severely affected by moisture, hot air drying can be used. Use a hot air blower to heat the equipment to accelerate the evaporation of moisture. When performing hot air drying, pay attention to controlling the temperature to avoid damage to the equipment caused by excessively high temperatures. (4) Vacuum drying
Vacuum drying is a more professional drying method that is suitable for diesel generator sets that are severely affected by moisture. By placing the equipment in a vacuum drying box, the air in the box is extracted using a vacuum pump to reduce the air pressure and accelerate the evaporation of moisture. This method has a fast drying speed and good effect, but requires professional equipment and operators.
(4) Checking insulation resistance
After the drying process is completed, the insulation resistance of the diesel generator set should be checked to ensure that it meets the requirements for normal operation. If the insulation resistance is still low, further drying may be required.
(5) Reassembly and testing
After confirming that the equipment is dry, the removed batteries should be reinstalled and the equipment should be reassembled. Then a trial run should be carried out to check whether the various performance indicators of the equipment are normal.
